Babies Program – 0-18 months
Our Babies Room caters to our littlest of learners!
Given the young age of these children, we focus on providing a very caring & nurturing environment. We build close relationships with the children, who may not have been away from their parents. It is very important to gain their trust and let them know that they are in a safe environment. Our children in the babies room enjoy receiving lots of cuddles throughout the day!
Routine is very important and we strive to follow parent’s home routine as best we can with our feeding & sleeping times. All nappies and wipes are provided (nappy creams to be supplied by families). If a child has a sensitivity, we ask that families provide their own nappies & wipes to the centre.
What activities do our babies engage in?
Little Learners Day Care Centre adopts a play-based learning approach.
Play-based learning is an educational strategy where children learn through play, which allows them to explore, engage, and experiment in ways that foster their development in multiple areas. By integrating social, physical, and cognitive skills, this approach creates a holistic learning environment.
Our Babies Program is inclusive of all children and is developed using the children’s interests & strength-based learning abilities. Educators within our service use the Governments Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to guide their decisions to interpret and assess children’s learning and development.
Keeping in mind that a number of the children in our Babies Program do not yet have verbal communication, our Educators will communicate with families to find interests of the children and understand each child’s abilities, needs and likes. Our Educators will also observe the children at play, to see what type of activities they like or are not interested in.
- Educators provide experiences and activities which are aimed at developing the children’s skills and abilities, in line with the Developmental Milestones expected at this age.
- We cater for the individual needs of each child. The activities and experiences used to build the skills of each child will look different, depending upon the age or the developmental level of each child.
- Daily activities and experiences will include music, talking, singing and reading to babies, building their foundation skills for literacy. Movement activities will include rolling, crawling and practising standing to help with their physical development.
