Little Learners Day Care

Toddler Program

18 months to 3 years

Our Toddler rooms cater to our inquisitive learners!

Toddlers experience rapid development during this stage in their cognitive, emotional & social skills. They learn to walk, talk and explore the world around them. They are developing their social skills and learning to regulate their emotions.

Little Learners Day Care Centre adopts a play-based learning approach.

Play-based learning is an educational strategy where children learn through play, which allows them to explore, engage, and experiment in ways that foster their development in multiple areas. By integrating social, physical, and cognitive skills, this approach creates a holistic learning environment.

Our Toddler program has a strong focus on 3 key areas

Planning for our toddlers, we have a strong focus on supporting them to develop their language, independence and social skills. Our educational program supports toddlers to engage in play experiences where they can practice and develop these skills.

  • Language skillsthrough storytelling, imaginative play, and interacting with peers, children build vocabulary, understand grammar, and use language to express thoughts and ideas.
  • Independence skills – we focus on skills such as washing their own hands, wiping their nose, putting a hat on to go outside, feeding themselves and helping to pack up toys & resources. Toilet training usually begins at this age. We work collaboratively to develop a plan for each child to assist with this both at home and at the service. This needs to be a positive experience for the child to gain confidence and independence.
  • Social Skillsactivities are planned that promote sharing, turn taking, cooperation, teamwork, collaboration & sharing of ideas. Through these intentionally designed experiences, children learn how to negotiate, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively.
